The showroom, designed by ai3 Design, was designed to achieve LEED Certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use, as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. These strategies include:
*The showroom is located within ½ mile of a residential zone and has access to a number of basic services including offices, schools, the post office, restaurants and the theatre;
*Public transportation access to help reduce automobile use and fuel consumption;
*At least 10 percent of the total value of materials for this project contains recycled content. (Materials including: gypsum, studs, boards, tac-wall, ceiling tiles, carpets, furniture and laminates.);
*At least 20 percent of the total value of materials for this project are manufactured within a 500 mile radius of the project site;
*All sealants, adhesives, paints, coatings, composite woods and laminate adhesives were selected to meet certain limits for low volatile organic compounds;
*75 percent of construction waste was diverted from landfills over the course of construction;
*Tandus carpet products (C&A) contribute to recycled content, regional materials and low-emitting materials; and
*At least 90 percent of all Energy Star eligible equipment within the Showroom is Energy Star rated.
