34 Fourth Avenue
Alice Freedman House
Queen Anne Style
The house was built in the 1890s by T.J.Emery for Alice Freedman, a New York merchant tailor. Sitting on its high bank and topped by an ogee-curve roof on its tower way above the street, the house has an imposing presence. By its size, variety of surfaces and shapes, and the state of preservation and restoration, it stands out among the Queen Anne dwellings in town. The color scheme, front stone wall and side yard garden also add to its warm presences.
