Powers Bluff County Park is located on 160 acres and is the 13th highest point of elevation in the State of Wisconsin at 1,472 feet. Seventy acres of Powers Bluff is a designated State Natural Area. There is a 1.5 mile self-guided nature trail within the park. Native American dance rings and burial grounds are preserved and the southern 80 acres of the Park has been placed in the National Register as a cultural sensitive area. The park is well known for the brilliant display of wild flowers in the spring time. During the months of May through October, the park amenities include a hiking trail, playground, and shelter building available for rent. During the winter months, the shelter building serves as a warming house when the ski and tube hill is open for the winter season. Winter sports include downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, tubing, snowmobile trail access and wooded areas for snowshoeing. In 2012, Wood County acquired 223 acres of property adjoining the northern property line of Powers Bluff County Park which will be the future location for most of the recreational facilities and trails within the park.
