Glen Echo Country Club
Vue d'ensemble
Glen Echo Country Club, founded in 1901, is the oldest 18-hole golf course west of the Mississippi. Gen Echo is a family-oriented country club featuring a historic golf course and clubhouse, clay tennis courts, an aquatic park swimming pool, fine and casual dining, banquet and private rooms, and a calendar full of golf, swimming, social and family activities.
Glen Echo Country Club was the site for golfing events during the 1904 Summer Olympics.
Glen Echo is shifting their landscaping to become environmentally sustainable. They switched their fescue turf grass lawns to zoysia - a warm season grass well suited for St. Louis and requiring less irrigation and fertilizer.

Impacts
Jay Fish sept. 2011 "Before I learned about this site, I assumed that they were polluting Engelholm Creek with lawn fertilizers. I discovered that they are very good ecological neighbors and working to create environmentally sustainable lawns for quality outdoor recreation."
