The Missouri Prairie Foundation is a great organization that encourages and aids in the establishment of natural prairies throughout the state. The MPF has some local sites that it is a part of, including Shaw Nature Reserve. MPF also owns tracts of land throughout the state that it is working with to restore from fescew grass to the more natural prairie lands. They offer great resources for anyone willing to participate or help in prairie restoration. A magazine, educational meetings, and other things are all parts of the MPF. Some very important members are located here in the city, including Bill Davit, who helped work on Shaw Nature Reserve's prairie. The pin on the map is placed at Shaw Nature Reserve because this is their most visible piece of work in the St. Louis are, although the MPF is centered in Columbia MO.
