A successful late 19th century pattern book house, where the shingle style predominates, was for many years (1900-1926) the home of Dr. J. R. Mott and his family. Dr. Mott had been associated with international organizations and was a founder of the student Volunteer movement, a predecessor to the Peace Corps. In 1946, he was named co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.
This historic house, built in 1899, is listed on the State Register of Historic Places.
