2009 Green Energy Ohio Solar Home Tour

The Rybarcyk Residence is a showcase for multiple renewable energy technologies.

The first of the installed systems is four Gobi flat plate solar thermal collectors supplying heat in a closed loop system to radiant floor tubes in the home. This first system alone reduced the Rybarcyk’s natural gas winter heating bill 60%.

The second system is sixteen BP 165W crystalline PV modules mounted over the skylights of the back patio roof.

The third system is six Sanyo 200W hybrid PV modules mounted on a Zomeworks passive solar tracker.

The fourth system is two arrays of Sunlight Solar evacuated tube solar thermal collectors (60 tubes total) mounted on the back wall of the garage.

The fifth system is four Guardian 2'x12' solar heating pool panels controlled by a Leveredge automatic control system providing heat to the in-ground swimming pool.

The sixth system is a Southwest Windpower Whisper 200 wind generator on a monopole tower in the front yard. All of the generated electricity from the multiple systems is regulated by two Outback 3648 inverters connected to a huge bank of SolarOne HUP deep-cycle lead acid batteries.

The home even sports a super efficient Sunfrost refrigerator powered entirely by the solar generated electricity.

In 2008, the Rybarcyk's purchased a total electric car charged by the surplus renewable electricity(Wildfire 120VDC).

In 2009, a new Wattsun Solar Tracker was added to the home. The tracker includes 16 Sanyo Modules (HIT-215N) to add an additional 3.44 kW. The system was tied into the existing battery bank and inverter.
