Two story, four bedroom, single family residence, Bellmore Passive House
Vue d'ensemble
The construction of this project started in March 2014. Expected completion of the house is November 2014.
Fire caused by “Sandy” destroyed the existing house, leaving an empty lot with only the original foundation remaining. The client’s desires to have a resilient energy efficient new home led to the selection of the Passive House goals and strategies.
The new house is a two story, four bedroom, 2025 SF TFA single family residence. The house is constructed of pre-insulated structural panels for the walls and roof and the floor systems constructed of engineered joist. The windows are triple glazed UPVC tilt and turn units. A two head ducted mini-split system provides the heating and cooling with a separate ERV unit to provide the balanced ventilation. The domestic hot water is provided by a heat pump unit. The lighting is LED lamps. The house is supported by a 7.5 Kw PV array.
