Bayswater Property
Vue d'ensemble
This large waterfront property was almost developed, but thanks to Arthur Knowlton and the 1900 residents that he convinced to petition against the development, it is now public land. The property, formerly known as the Bayswater Boatyard, was purchased by the City of Quincy in 2002 with funds generated by the city’s Hotel/Motel Tax. Located in the Houghs Neck section of the city, the property includes a boathouse, a boatyard, a boat ramp, a house used for emergency shelter, and over 50 feet of beach front for all to enjoy. In July 2008, the boathouse was dedicated to Raymond West, a Houghs Neck resident who died in the Vietnam War.
