Underhill is a large sports-orientated park. There is a woodland trail and the park itself is well kept, with good all weather pitches, and located centraly for the Mumbles public. and the Underhill 2000 committee helps with the parks upkeep.

Green space is important in urban areas. They can sustain important communities of plants and animals, and can be vital for the health and well being of urban inhabitants.
Parks and gardens provide a focus point for communities, and have gained in importance as significant areas for conservation.

Does the Underhill 2000 committee still exist? If it does it has not been very active for a long time we paid a subscription ages ago never been renewed or requested. As we live alongside the park we have a keen interest in its upkeep & try to do our 'bit', great that the Park is used for sport it would be even greater if those that participate or spectate would respect the Park & take their rubbish home with them, the mess left behind is disgusting & only appreciated by the Foxes & birds who scatter it even more by raiding the bins. Dog walkers could help more by removing the dog mess from paths & playing fields some do, many don't & these give the others a bad name.

The road into the Park car park is in poor condition not helped by being under the control of two different Council Departments, The first part is under Highways & in terrible condition deep potholes, missing tarmac etc, the rest is under Parks Dept control & rather better. this 'dual control' also gives rise to an obvious lack of communication between Departments & the daft behaviour of the small roadsweeper that regularly cleans the road - or at least part of it! He drives in with brushes raised until he reaches the 'Parks' section drops the brushes cleans the inner road & car park, heads out until he reaches the 'Highways' section, stops raises, his brushes & drives out, leaving the Highways section uncleaned so any rubbish etc. can blow into the cleaned part - How daft is that? can't Council departments co operate with each other for the better of the Public they are supposed to serve?
