Overview

No votes yet

Managed by the Wildlife Trust, Bolgoed Quarry is a disused sandstone quarry consisting mainly of open canopied, deciduous woodland of Ash and Birch, with a ground layer of Ivy, Bramble and dense gorse scrub. It is locally important for lower plants, such as Mosses and Liverworts. A range of woodland birds inhabit the site such as Great Tit, Tawny Owl, Nuthatch and Treecreeper and the wetter areas makes it ideal for wintering Woodcock.
