Jerusalem
Armenian Tavern
Vue d'ensemble
The Armenian community in Jerusalem is one of the city's oldest, dating back to the mass conversions to Christianity in the fourth century. Located in the small Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City, the Armenian Tavern is as much a museum as a restaurant, its' historical significance sometimes taking precedence over the food. Regardless, this is the place to try traditional Armenian dishes like Armenian style meat pizzas known as lachmanjun and basturma, dried spiced meat. 79 Armenian Orthodox Patriarchate Road, Jerusalem; 972 (2) 627 3854; Mon-Sat 11 AM- 10 PM; $$
