Tel Aviv- Jaffa
Dr. Shakshouka
Vue d'ensemble
Shakshouka is a classic North African dish of eggs poached in a spicy tomato sauce that has taken Israel by storm. Brought to the county by immigrants from Tripoli and Tunisia, shakshouka has been absorbed into the Israeli culinary arsenal. The Tripoltani restaurant in Jaffa is home to the uncontested best version of the classic dish and maintains a cult following among locals and Israeli's across the nation. Other Mizrahi specialties including couscous, loobiya, mafrum and okra round out the menu at this landmark establishment. 3 Beit Eshel, Jaffa; 972 (57) 944 4193; Sun-Thurs 8 AM- 12 AM, Fri 8 AM- shabbat, Sat 7 PM- 12 AM; $$ cash only
