The Hampton Inn and Suites Sarasota-Bradenton Airport is the first hotel in Sarasota County to be LEED Certified. Also the first hotel in the Hampton Inn Family. The hotel features environmental friendly design and construction utilizing alternative energy sources to limit consumption of energy and water. The hotel’s water is heated by solar energy. Hotel guests can contribute to the hotel’s sustainability efforts by participating in their in-room recycling and linen reduction programs. The hotel’s design features large windows and natural lighting elements and native landscaping. The USF Sarasota-Manatee Campus building is a LEED certified green building. The building makes use of natural lighting with its large windows. There are solar charging stations for personal electronics such as cell-phones, laptops, etc that can be found in the courtyard. The landscape uses native eco-friendly plants that don’t require a lot of maintenance or mowing. The extended roof keeps the building cool by providing additional shading. My name is David Wilkie, and am a recent arriving new resident to the area. I was a member of the Land O' Lakes, WI Community Garden, and loved growing my veggies organically. The comradery of my fellow gardeners was one of my favorite . Iparts of the garden. I would love to have a plot in the garden, to continue my passion.
