The Chemistry Addition project involves additions and renovations to Atwood Hall located on the campus of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Atwood Hall is an existing 150,000 GSF four story wing and seven story wing building originally built in 1974. The project involves the addition of approximately 68,000 GSF of new construction and significant interior renovation of the existing facility. The Chemistry Addition will connect to the existing building on Levels 1 – 6, with a five story addition to the south and a two story addition over the existing four story west wing. The new construction will include research laboratories, a Research Instrument Center, commons areas, a library, teaching space, conference rooms, administration offices, and a large interactive classroom. The chemical stock room and storage facilities are proposed to remain in the existing portion of Atwood Hall, as well as some existing laboratory and classroom spaces. The construction budget is $35,000,000. The project has a planned occupancy of mid 2011.
