11 Third Avenue

Overview
First Wooden House in Atlantic Highlands
The available historical information is not clear. One source places the house on the west side of Third Avenue at no. 11, which is an Empire style house. However, according to Marianna Leonard Bell in I Remember, the first private residence built in town was owned by Edward T. Burdge on Third Avenue, just back of the Bay View House," which places it on the east side of the street.
Streetscape: There are seven houses with towers on the eastern (uphill) side of the street between Ocean Boulevard and Mount Avenue.
