National Congress
Overview
The National Congress is the main postcard of Brasilia, housing the seat of the Legislative branch. The convex semi-sphere is the seat of the Chamber of the Deputies, and the concave one is the seat of the Senate. Between them there are two 28-floor vertical office towers, the tallest buildings in the city, where the administration of both houses functions. Both buildings are connected by a walkway, resembling the letter H, believed to be a reference to the representatives of the people: Man, Honor and Honesty.
Both houses offer guided tours. Highlights include the Black Hall, the Green Hall, the Noble Hall and the two Plenary halls, works of art by Di Cavalcanti, Alfredo Ceschiatti, Marianne Peretti and Maria Bonomi, libraries and gardens designed by Burle Marx.
