Unmarked Indian Burial Ground

Archaeological Site

Overview

No votes yet

This empty lot is actually an Indian burial ground. It is possible that the last known Canarsie Indian is buried here. He died in the 1830s. The site is owned by New York City. There is no sign indicated that this is a burial ground. There is just a chain link fence and a sign that it is city property.

why aren't better efforts put forth to honor the people that are buried there. Why not make it a historical site? A landmark?
