A Bicycle Empowerment Centre is a shop owned by a previously disadvantaged person, who is trained by BEN (Bicycle Empowerment Network) in bicycle mechanics and basic business skills and then starts his own shop, mostly operating in a refurbished container where the person is then able to sell and repair bicycles.
