August A. Busch Conservation Nature Center
Overview
Extensive, bucolic, public and free - the August A. Busch Conservation Nature Center is twenty-five miles or so West of St. Louis. Enter through the main gate or just follow the road until you see a spot that tickles your fancy, pull over, and hoof it. Scattered small man-made lakes surrounded by pine are inhabited by numerous birds and small animals.
Here's their main page.
