CHERP Prairie Restoration Area
Overview
The CHERP group at UMSL is currently growing and expanding a prairie by way of their Prairie Restoration Area. The area is used to for fieldwork for Urban Ecology students such as soil sampling, transecting, ecological measurement, etc. The prairie is tended to by both students and teachers through manually spreading seeds, burning the plants and mowing. Through this project the natural beauty of a prairie, once overlooked, will be fully restored and appreciated.
CHERP is the Campus Honors Environmental Research Project and part of the Pierre Laclede Honors College at the University of Missouri - St. Louis www.umsl.edu/~honors/
Funding for plants and seeds were provided by: UMSL Continuing Education and Wild Ones foundation
