Shaw Nature Reserve is a division of the Missouri Botanical Gardens, approximately 2500 acres of native habitat restoration committed to environmental education. The reserve offers miles trails for hiking and wildlife viewing, along with many types of restored ecosystems of the region; check out the Whitmire Wildflower Garden, The Pinetum, The Wetlands Complex, or the Meremac River that winds through the reserve. Many classes and tours are available, including native landscaping, wild edibles, plant identification, night hikes, and wildflower walks.

Shaw Nature Reserve is open from 7 am untill sunset. Visitor Center hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm on weekdays and 9 to 5 on weekends. There is a small fee of $3 for adults and $2 for seniors, children are admitted for free.
