The Third-Westminster Presbyterian Church rain garden was installed with funding from the New York- New Jersey Harbor Estuary Program, New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium/New Jersey Sea Grant Extension Program, and Future City, Inc. With this funding, three rain gardens were installed cooperatively by Future City, Inc. and the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Water Resources Program throughout Essex and Union counties. These rain gardens include Benedictine Academy, St. Benedict’s Preparatory, and Third-Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Type of Runoff Managed:

This rain garden manages stormwater runoff from the Third West-Minster Presbyterian Church parking lot.

Students and Future City, Inc. staff were present for the installation of the rain garden in June 2008. Community members and local businesses provided equiptment and materials, donated their time and expertise.

The rain garden is maintained by the Third-Westminster Presbyterial Church.
