Waste Management’s Eagle Valley Recycling and Disposal facility in Orion Township is installing two new engines which will convert landfill gas into electricity for approximately 3,000 homes through DTE’s energy grid. The General Motors Lake Orion Plant is right across the street from our facility and landfill gas will be sent underground to their power plant, which offsets their need to burn coal. They will burn 40,000 less tons of coal per year by utilizing landfill gas as an alternative energy source.

Eagle Valley R&D site recently received its Wildlife Habitat Council certification for its Wildlife At Work program.

GREEN FACT: Waste Management is North America's largest recycler of household-generated recyclables, recycling enough newspaper, office paper and cardboard last year to save more than 41 million trees.
