Willis Irvine has been doing artwork all of his life. Coming from a family of artist and carvers, he always had a steady supply of inspiration and support. Being a Harkers Island native, he has a respect and undrstanding for the "Down East" way of life. He wishes to help preserve this way of life through his art. Most of his work is of the Cape Lookout Lighthouse and the other North Carolina lights. Although most of his work consists of seascapes and wildlife, he occasionally does portraits as well. He has won the Core Sound Decoy Festival poster competition twice - in 2000 and 2001.
