The reserve is 42ha in extent and comprises grasslands, scarp and swamp forest. The small stream which flows through the reserve plunges over a waterfall into a gorge which forms one of the headwaters of the Umbilo River. The pond is home to a number of fish species and attracts water birds.

Driving Directions: Take the M13 west from Durban towards Kloof. Take the Village Road / Kloof (Exit 23) off-ramp and turn left into Village Road. Turn right into the Kloof and Highway SPCA entrance which should be immediately on the right. Park at the SPCA parking area. Trails through the reserve start at the parking lot.
