Hazelmere Resources Reserve

Overview

Hazelmere Dam is one of the most popular destinations on the North Coast for water sports, such as boating and sailing. The dam has many species of fish and fishing is another popular activity. It should be noted that the dam is zoned according to the type of activity permitted. Adjoining Hazelmere Dam is a 350ha nature reserve, which is home to a diversity of flora and fauna. The main attractions at the nature reserve include the forest on the eastern shore of the dam and the large game animals, such as Zebra and Bushbuck. Nature lovers can also enjoy leisurely walks or a picnic at the water's edge.

Driving Directions: Take the N2 north from Durban towards Umhlanga. Take the Mt Edgecombe/Umhlanga off-ramp and turn left towards Mt Edgecombe. Follow Gopalall Hurbans Road (M41) east past Verulam and over the Umdloti River. After crossing the bridge,turn left into Vincent Dickenson Road. Turn left again into New Glasgow Road and go through Canelands Industrial Park. Follow signs to the dam.
