Overview
The Private Secondary School (PLO) in Leszno a non-public (private) school enjoying the same rights as a public (state) school. The school was established in 2002 and it is located in Wielkopolska, the western part of Poland. It is a small school, but it is very active and creative both on the regional and international level. The school works on numerous international projects which are to facilitate the students’ intellectual development as well as help them in choosing and shaping their own path of development.
The main aim of the school is to prepare a student who is ready to function effectively in a modern democratic society, that being done in the spirit of respect for individual abilities of the students and taking into consideration the principle of equality, tolerance and the Christian system of values. Student’s personal development as a result of full exploitation of the student’s intellectual potential as well as psycho and physical abilities in order to reach nationwide standards of school operation and student’s achievements is the priority for the school. The school is designed for all students who want to learn and develop with the full acceptance of the teachers who work in the school, their abilities, methods and forms of work. The school is unique in organizing classes in very small groups, teaching two obligatory foreign languages – English and German and the third optional language: Italian, French or Russian. The school also offers additional classes in: (1) music and singing, (2) dancing and (3) art and drawing.
High standard of education is guaranteed by careful selection of teaching staff, application of diverse teaching methods, constant evaluation of school’s work, attention to the student’s personal development by monitoring his/her progress in acquiring knowledge and skills, ensuring the appropriate creative atmosphere of work and providing students with the sense of emotional and physical security.
In school’s work it is of particular importance to organize and direct the educational process in such a way that it is based on the education for values in the context of sustainable development.
Adopted quality strategy
The quality policy adopted by the school is an adaptation of the Earth Charter principles and it was implemented in the school in 2007. The most important tasks for teachers and students include:
1. Shaping the sense of responsibility and the ability to make critical analysis of the reality.
2. Promotion of the most important universal values and their application in the process of shaping yourself and your own development.
3. Inspiring the sense of belonging to the local society with respect for the diversity and integrity of each person at the same time.
4. Development of international cooperation with other schools and educational organizations.
5. Promotion of healthy lifestyle and responsibility for the environment and its protection.
6. Students’ spiritual development and their physical and emotional security.
