Free of charge, located downtown within 3minutes walking from The Commons, The History Center offers permanent and temporary exhibits about Tompkins County history; a Map Room, an Open Storage shelf, a Timeline are amongst permanent exhibits. Varied temporary exhibits, ranging from underwears to architecture, are available for visitors - to know more see their website.

A research library is open to the public with access to unique collections, and high-quality programs use the resources of the past to illuminate the present in Tompkins County.

The History Center offers a downtown self-guided tour that can be downloaded from their website!
This organization was recently granted two awards from Sustainable Tompkins and the New York Council for the Humanities for outstanding sustainable programs.
