Strawberry Field Park / Forever Wild Park
Overview
Between Mitchell Street and Cornell Street.
The history of Strawberry Fields is connected to the Bell Sherman Elementary school. Previously, the land was owned by the City of Ithaca School District. In 1940 and in 1960, apartment complexes had been proposed for this land. There were also plans to build a hospital here. The school board retained the land until its own needs were met. On July 21, 1970, a 9.9 acre parcel was sold to the City for park use.
