Overview

Olive Street Garden is rebuilding composting bins that were damaged by hurricane Sandy and collecting food scraps from gardeners, volunteers, and senior citizens from a local housing complex. The group, located in a neighborhood that processes 40% of the city’s waste, hopes to be a model for diverting organic waste. 2013 Winner of First-Ever Manhattan Community Scale Composting Contest. 2013 Winner of First-Ever Manhattan Community Scale Composting Contest.
