Sandy Ground Historical Museum
Overview
Sandy Ground is the oldest community founded by freed black slaves in North America. It served as home to many freed slaves, as well as being an important stop on the Underground Railroad. The museum is dedicated to preserving and expanding knowledge of the Sandy Ground community, they have everything from quilt-making sessions to lectures. Their hours during the spring and summer are Tuesday-Sunday from 1-4 PM and during the winter they are open on Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday from 1-4 PM.
