Materials Recovery Facility known as a MRF (pronounced "murf"), this facility processes commingled containers and commingled paper items. They are then sorted, consolidated (baled) and shipped to manufacturing plants where they are made into new products.
This Rockland County Cocomposting Facility recycles bio-solids from the five wastewater treatment plants in Rockland County – and from Orange County’s Harriman Facility. The bio-solids are mixed with clean wood waste and then composted. The finished product is similar to peat moss and is an excellent soil amendment for use on golf courses, flower gardens and landscaping projects.
