Bupyeong Mitsubishi(Samneung) line house


Overview
In Bupyeong, Incheon, there is an old shanty village in the middle of city. It is called Bupyeong Mitsubishi(Samneung) line house (삼릉줄사택), which is the site of Japanese army company, Mitsubishi, built during the Japnense colonial era for their workers. The name of Samreung in Incheon refers to Japanese company Mitsubishi. In the early 1940s, houses of workers of Chosun who work in Mitsubishi industries to avoid forced labor and abuse was built in the near of Bupyung Station. It was named after a long and narrow line of houses, where workers lived side by side. Now, the house is too old and remained only about 20%, so many people claimed out that it should be preserved as proof of the historical site. On thet other hand, the residents are continuously demanding the redevelopment, because it is a vulnerable area where life improvement is urgently needed. However, It will also be planned to be demolished in 2018 as a residential environment improvement project.
