The 63,000-square-foot Social Sciences Building opened in fall of 2006 and achieved 26 points on 1/27/2007 of the USGBC rating system. The new building houses the College of Arts and Sciences' departments of sociology, anthropology, psychology, criminal justice, and political sciences and public administration, as well as various labs, several research centers and the dean's office.UNF Social Sciences Building is multi-use with 63,000 square feet.

LEED Certification of the University’s Social Sciences Building was based on a number of green design and construction features that positively impact the project itself and the broader community. These features include waterless urinals, natural light, energy efficient heating and mechanical systems, using materials that do less damage to the environment, providing user-friendly recycling stations throughout the building, using reclaimed water for irrigation and providing students, faculty and staff with a comfortable environment.
