Overview
JASA/Coney Island Active Aging (CIAA) NORC - SSP.JASA's professional team of social workers with health partners from Metropolitan Jewish Health System provides social and health services to all individuals 60 and over, the residents of O'Dwyer and Surf Garden housing. Services include home assessments for social services and health care needs, obtaining and maintaining benefits and entitlements and case management/information services. Referrals to other programs for services not onsite. Nurses provide health care services and blood pressure screening weekly. Monthly are presentations on relevant topics such as managing diabetes. Members have the opportunity to do arts & crafts/collage and exercise classes in aerobics, dancing, and yoga weekly, followed by lunch three times per week. Monthly trips/outings. End-of-month parties, including birthdays. Volunteers are welcome to apply.
