My name is Andre Scoville and I am Morriston's historian. I'm 36 and keen to make Morriston Park a great park as it used to be.
I have started the Morriston Facebook site where I have posted many photograph from 10,000+ images of Morriston including the Park from the 1920s to September 2009 -

The Park used to be well-used and many people have good memories of the open-air baths.
I visited the park last month (September 2009) and walked to the top of the park. I sat down on quite an uncomfortable bench and looked over at a superb view over Morriston, Llansamlet & Clydach.
The walks are lovely, the views are stunning and the flowers around the cenotaph are a credit to the gardeners responsible for this.
However, the murky waters where the swans and ducks swim isn't very attractive.
Apart from the children's play area - what else is there in Morriston Park?
Morriston Park is such a vast space, it could have easily housed a sports centre with swimming pool - and still kept the charm of the park. Without money being generated into the park, I don't know how the park can improve. Many years ago there was a bandstand - well, the modern version would be a stage - where Morriston people (and Swansea people as well) could come and listen to live performances. We certainly need to keep Morriston Park alive.

- Andre ScovilleKeep the park natural, and yes keep the water clean, keep out sports centers but bring in nature walks and a bandstand where musicians can play and perhaps a little cafe. like the swiss cottage in singleton but with better food.
