Community Park North & The Pettoranello Gardens
Overview
Community Park North & The Pettoranello Gardens
71 acres
Community Park North offers a beautiful variety of both wooded grounds and open space. The Pettoranello Gardens, a 13 acre section in the south end of the park, features a duck pond and nearby amphitheater. The gardens are maintained by the Princeton/Pettoranello Sister City Foundation. The trails in this section are paved and suitable for wheelchair use. Marked hiking trails then take visitors into the northern section of the park, across a stream, through low lying wetlands, and into a mature pine plantation. This area, once farmed, now consists of a white pine forest, with mixed species of spruce and pine. The hiking trails, maintained by Friends of Princeton Open Space, connect Community Park North to Mountain Lakes Preserve and the fields of Tusculum, and the 400 acres that make up the Greater Mountain Lakes Open Space Area.
Location: Visitors can reach Community Park North and the Pettoranello Gardens from a parking area off Mountain Ave, where restrooms are also available.
