Perry High School 1.8 kW Wind Turbine

Overview
The school features a Skystream 3.7 wind generator (1.8 kW) connected to the grid, along with a meteorological monitoring station, which monitors wind speed, wind direction, air temperature, and solar intensity (insolation). The meteorological monitoring station has 3 anemometers installed at different heights on an existing light pole within the football/soccer stadium. Installed in 2008, these technologies allow monitoring data remotely or from a computer located in one of the high school classrooms. Perry will be implementing a student-centered cross-curricular program on energy resources, utilizing these installations to generate dialogue and encourage learning.
