Overview
Our main purpose is to develop a long-term solution to the management of solid waste (trash or garbage) in Summit County, Ohio while simultaneously protecting the Earth.
The Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority (the "Authority") is a governing body established by the 1988 Ohio Solid Waste Disposal Act (House Bill 592) and its duties are stated in Ohio Revised Code Section 343 and 3734.
The Authority supports and implements programs that increase:
Reuse-Reduce-Recycling
Sustainability
Conservation of natural resources
Waste minimization
Preservation of the environment
