Ocracoke South Dock Ferry Terminal

Overview

This is the ferry landing and leaving point to travel between Ocracoke and Swan Quarter or Ocracoke and Cedar Island. The schedule changes during the year, and the schedule can be viewed online. Reservations are necessary (there is a stand-by line, but that can be nerve wracking) and can be made online or by calling. The ferry ride is about 2 1/2 hours long and there is a fee. There are heated and air-conditioned lounges, and rest rooms and vending machines are available. It is a good idea to call ahead if the weather is very stormy. The Visitors Center is located very close to the South Dock Terminal. The village of Ocracoke is close by so it is possible to rent a bicycle or golf cart and tour Ocracoke for the day instead of bringing your car.
