Pousada Tropicana
Overview
History
Pousada Tropicana was first opened in 1989 by Frenchman Gerard André Masse. It was one of the first five pousadas to open on Ilha Grande. Pousada Tropicana features 15 rooms, three with ocean views. Pousada Tropicana has received four “Guia Quatro Rodas” awards making it a favorable place to stay.
Sustainable Features
The pousada encourages its guest to take advantage of the wonderful trails the island has to offer.
The restaurant at Pousada Tropicana purchases its food from Angra Dos Reis like most other businesses in Ilha Grande. Local people are hired to work in both the pousada and the restaurant. Tropicana uses solar energy for its boilers to heat the water. Trash is taken to Angra where it is recycled.
French, English, Spanish and Portuguese are spoken here. The pousada and restaurant are located in the center of the village, right between the two piers.
