Visit Sarasota County is the official and primary provider of visitor information for Sarasota County. It hosts more than 50 travel writers annually from media outlets such as Washington Post, Travel Channel, New York Times and Conde Nast Traveler. Annually, Visit Sarasota County responds to more than 100 story leads and 300 media requests. Visit Sarasota County also has public relations and sales representatives throughout Europe. Its annual visitors' guide is distributed to 135,000 potential visitors every year. Visit Sarasota County enthusiastically embraced the principles of the Green Business Partnership. It enhanced its office recycling efforts, identified ways to reduce waste by more effectively estimating the quantities of brochures needed for printing and by relying on electronic copies of documents, instead of paper copies. It is also implementing several of the energy conservation measures recommended by its Florida Power and Light (FPL) energy audit.

Visit Sarasota County became a Sarasota County Green Business Partner in 2008. The Green Business Partnership (GBP) encourages environmental stewardship in the commercial sector, and recognizes businesses that make an extra effort to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. This collaborative effort includes businesses, business organizations and local governments. The GBP was initiated through a grant awarded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to Sarasota County.
