Watts Towers Arts Center
Overview
17 tower sculptures constructed of structural steel, covered in mortar, and adorned with broken glass, sea shells, pottery, and tile. Built by one man, Simon Rodia, a construction worker who used simple tools, over a 34-year period beginning in 1921.
It's a National Historic Landmark operated by the Cultural Affairs Department. The Watts Towers Arts Center also provides tours, lectures, studio workshops for children and teachers.
