The College School

Overview
The College School engages children, ages three to fourteen, in joyful, meaningful and creative learning through an adventurous, theme-based, experiential curriculum. Our sustainability initiatives include:
- a greenhouse,
- semi-permeable pavers in our parking lot,
- a vertical access wind turbine,
- composting organic waste,
- The River natural playscape,
- an array of solar panels,
- rain barrels to harvest rainwater,
- a model green roof,
- vegetable gardens, and
- native plantings.
Our curriculum focuses on long term integrated themes. School wide, we cultivate shared leadership, model responsibility and develop skills that prepare students to be active, engaged and informed citizens. We value learning experiences that encourage students and teachers to understand the interconnectedness of humans and our environment. We provide opportunities for students to learn from multiple perspectives and we strive to cultivate a love and understanding of the places in which we live and study.

The College School River
The College School has a great way of having fun at recess! The one hundred foot long stream that leads to a pond at the end is a great place for studying. It's also a giant sandbox, a garden, and a playground! There is a motor at the pond that recycles the water that has been used. Now that's a great way to reuse! You can learn more at thecollegeschool.org or contact teacher Matt Diller (mdiller@thecollegeschool.org)
