Rosehill Quarry is a community managed green oasis in the centre of Swansea, with excellent views over the City. The Friends of Rosehill Quarry group, supported by the Local Authority and other organisations, coordinate many activities and events throughout the year helping people to appreciate and look after the natural environment on their doorstep.

One of the quarry's curiosities is a white spiral maze-like impression carved into the ground beside a bubbling brook. Rosehill Quarry was also successful in gaining a Green Pennant Award which recognises quality sites managed by voluntary and community groups.

The quarry boasts a number of habitats, such as hillside woodland and scrub, shallow ponds, a stream and a constant water cascade, which falls from the steep limestone rocks underpinning Townhill's summit. The quarry supports more than one hundred species of plants including rowan trees, oak and royal fern, among others; thirty odd species of birds including sparrow hawks, kestrels and tawny owls, as well as frogs, newts and an array of dragonflies and damsel flies, notably the rare bluetailed damselfly – which has been adopted as the quarry’s symbol.

People can join in with using, improving and creating new elements of the Rosehill Quarry Community Park by joining the quarry group, which meets monthly, or helping on practical work days once a month.
They meet on the first Sunday of the month 10.00am - 12.00pm, and volunteers can just turn up, meet local people and care for a site which provides a green space for all.
Volunteers can be from 14 plus. Children under 14 years of age to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
