Swansea Children's Centre

Overview
The Children's Centre, opened in 2006, is a key resource for children aged 0 to 11 across the Swansea area. Services include: day care facilities, after-school club, a sensory room, toy library, information area, etc. And for the adults there are a number of training courses, from IT to jewelry making. The Centre also publishes a regular newsletter.
The Centre is set in a beautiful purpose-built building, which was designed with sustainability in mind, and has achieved a Bronze Eco Centre Award. The building is efficient with low energy heating and lighting systems, and low water usage toilets and taps. Composting is encouraged, and the children love to feed the composting 'Rolly Pig'. There is excellent recycling provision and the staff are committed to keeping waste to a minimum and reusing resources where possible. The Centre works closely with the local community to get everyone involved, such as the Dads Group who help improve the outdoor areas, and the comittee who help decide how the Centre is run.
