T.O.P.I.C House (The Older People's Information Centre) is a social and information centre for older people and carers, and it is on the Swansea Sustainability Trail. A unique project, it aims to encourage active citizenship through cultural, educational, and leisure opportunities; encourage social inclusion; and challenge ageism wherever possible and ensure that the contributions of older people are fully recognised in our society.

Topic House is committed to many sustainable practices such as recycling. This site grows vegetables, plants, trees, allowing volunteers to take part in garden activities and others to sit and enjoy the view of the garden and wider Swansea Bay.

The Centre offers a number of social activities that are organised and managed by local volunteers, in conjunction with project workers. These are well attended and include coffee mornings, a gardening club, arts and crafts sessions and IT training. The educational, cultural and leisure opportunities available encourage social inclusion amongst the users, and a more active citizenship.

This project stemmed from a former regeneration project in the area, the Townhill Older People’s Project. It was towards the end of this project that residents expressed their desire for an easily accessible centre in which older people could receive information and advice on all age-related issues, in an informal, non-threatening environment.
Visitors are welcome and it is part of the Swansea Sustainability Trail.

Helen ( Jul 2010 "I went down to TOPIC house yesterday to wish Ana luck and also to let her know how I'm still there to help if she needs me (I met her through Kate at HEWG and found out how hard she's been fighting to have the land in front of her house made safe for everyone to use; particularly children). I met a lovely lady called Corlis (this is spelt phonetically so sorry if it's wrong (0:. I hadn't realised really what TOPIC house is but was very taken with all the activity that goes on there. I'm 'only' 41 but have been inspired to go to the YB fat class that I've seen advertised on the Townhill library noticeboard and ignored because I'd thought it might be intended only for OAP/Seniors. If as Corlis says there might be a need for people to get involved with a leaflet drop i'd be glad to help, I'm on 01792 417877."
