Nidaros Cathedral is the largest and northernmost medieval cathedral in Scandinavia, built over the burial place of St Olav, who was killed in the battle of Stiklestad in 1030. The original building was completed around 1300, but the cathedral has been rebuilt after major fires several times since then.

Other attractions of the cathedral are its architectural styles, the adjacent Archbishop Palace and museum, and the Crown Regalia exhibition.

Today, the cathedral is a popular tourist attraction. Tourists often follow the historical pilgrim routes to visit the spectacular church.
