Hester Street Market

Overview
After visiting Allen Street Pedestrian Malls we all rode to the Hester Street Market Fair. Hester Street Fair, located in a beautiful park setting, was once home to New York City’s largest and oldest pushcart markets. Their mission is to sell quality goods and food, but to also create a space that reflects the dynamic energy of the Lower East Side. Once we got to the market, our Bikesploreres took sidewalk measurements to place much needed bike racks at the entrance of the market along Hester and Essex Streets. The bike rack suggestions were submitted to fixcity.org for consideration by the local community board. Afterwards, we had delicious bean wraps and hummus dip for lunch courtesy of Light and Savory, one of the restaurant merchants featured at the Hester Street Fair every Saturday and Sunday, April-December from 10am-6pm.
